Tools we will be using

Preset Shapes Tool

Mover Tool

Text Tool

This tutorial will familiarise you with changing colours and using the preset shapes tool

Before we start, make sure your "Tool Options Palette" and your "Layer Palette" are both open on the screen.

To do this go to View > Toolbars > when the window opens check the above 2 Palette's then click close.

1. Open a new image 300 x 300 transparent

2. Fill with a pale colour, I used # F9E2CB

3. Add a new layer (layer 2)

4. Grab your preset shapes tool

5. On your tool options palette....select these settings, use the drop down menu to find Heart 1

If you dont have a heart in your presets, use another all BLACK image with the same settings as below.

6. Set your foreground colour to red # C00000 and Background colour to white # FFFFFF These are the 2 colours we will be using for the rest of the tutorial.

7. On your main image start at the top left corner and draw a heart as below

If your heart is not in the same position as mine.....Grab the "Mover Tool"  and reposition it.

8. Go to your colour palette and click the little arrow between the colours to swap the Back and Foreground colours as shown.

9 Left click on the little arrow on the white and go to Null

You should now have this on your colour palette

10 Add a new layer (layer 3) and Grab your preset shapes tool again with the same settings as before...in step 5

Now draw another heart starting from the centre of your first heart.....this heart should be ALL RED

11. Add another layer, (layer 4) change your background colour to white and draw another heart starting at the centre of your 2nd heart. This heart should be ALL WHITE

Your image should now look like this...

12. Add another new layer, (layer 5) grab your preset shapes tool with the following settings.

Make sure the retain style is checked and use the drop down menu to find button 007.

13. In the bottom left hand corner, draw your button....you will see that the button looks exactly the same as in the tool options box, That is because we checked the "Retain Style" option.

14. Add a new layer (layer 6) and grab the text tool  ...Click on the red button you have just drawn and the Text box will open.Type in your name using the following settings, If you have a long name you will have to make the text size smaller than 28 so that your name will fit on the button, click OK then center your name on the button.

selections > Select none.

Now lets see if you added all the layers when you were told to :o)

15. Go to your layer palette and highlight (click) layer 2 (your first heart) and go to Effects > 3D Effects > Drop shadow > settings as below .... OK

16. Repeat step 15 on layers 3,4,5, & 6....making sure you are on the correct layer each time.

NOTE....If you want to be different, before you merge your layers, you can grab the mover tool  and rearrange your shapes to a different layout.

17. Go to Layers > Merge > Merge All (Flatten)

18 Make sure your background colour is set to RED, go to Image > Add Borders > Symetric Checked > Top line 10 > OK

19 Save your image as a Jpeg.....Voila!!!!

The finished image should look something like this
