Right lets begin, open the image you would like to use in PSP, or you can use the image I am using by right clicking on the image and saving it to your hard drive.

The first step when starting a new project is to duplicate the image you are going to be working with and closing down the orginal, this way you will always have that image to work on at a later date.

To duplicate your Image either press Shiftl and D or goto Window>duplicate.

Click on your colour picker tool as you hover over the image the cursor will change to an eye dropper. left click anywhere on the image and you will notice the foreground colour on your colour palatte will change. Try this a few times, when you are ready, lets set the foreground colour. I have used a dark brown (#995410) from around the neck area.

Let us set the background colour, still using the colour picker tool, this time right click on the image again you will see the background colour changing, try this a few times, when you are ready, lets set the background colour, I have used an orange (#EAAE45) from the tree area.

Goto Image>add border, on the box that pops up ensure symetrical is check and enter 10 as the top value, all other values should now automatically be set as 10. You will see a orange border around your image.

Next click on the Magic Wand Tool and using these settings click inside the orange border, marching ants should now surround your new border

Goto effects>texture effects>blinds and use the following settings. Press OK

Goto effects>texture effects>blinds again but this time check the horizontal box and leave the rest of the settings as before. Press OK, your image should look like this

With your border still selected goto Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel. In the presets scroll down and look for frame and select it. If you dont have Frame in your presets you the same settings as me, then in your Presets click on Save as and type Frame, you will now have these settings if you wish to use them again.

Selections > Select None.

We now want to swap the background and foreground colour go to the 2 headed arrow and the top of the colour palette and press it, the colours should now have swapped position.

Goto Image>add border, on the box that pops up ensure symetrical is check and enter 15 as the top value, click OK, you will now notice the border is now brown.

Select the new border using the same settings on your magic wand as before.

Goto Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel. In the presets scroll down and look for Bead and select it. If you dont have Bead in your presets you the same settings as me, then in your Presets click on Save as and type Bead, you will now have these settings if you wish to use them again.

Selections > Select None.
